Finding Myself at Xinalani: A Transformational Retreat by the Sea
I didn’t know how much my body and soul needed a reset—until I stepped onto the beautiful beach of Xinalani.
Just a 45-minute boat ride from Puerto Vallarta, nestled near the untouched village of Quimixto, Xinalani isn’t just a retreat—it’s a return to what truly matters. With no roads, no traffic, and no distractions, this private paradise reintroduces you to simplicity, presence, and peace. You wake up with the sound of the ocean and fall asleep under a blanket of stars. Everything in between feels like a prayer.

Waking up with the sound of the ocean and fall asleep under a blanket of stars. Everything in between feels like a prayer!
Each day begins with yoga in an open-air studio overlooking the Pacific, where the horizon itself feels like it’s breathing with you. Meditation follows often by the ocean, where waves offer the most ancient kind of wisdom. Meals are vibrant, healing, and lovingly prepared. It was here that I realized how the food I had been eating was more habit than nourishment. At Xinalani, I re-learned how to eat with intention.
Between wellness sessions, I explored jungle paths, swam in crystalline waters. Although I didn't have the opportunity to swim with dolphins or whales this time, it's an experience I look forward to enjoying on my next visit to Xinalani. I guess is an unforgettable reminder of our place in the natural world.
My mom and I stayed in the Eco-Chic Suite, tucked into the lush hillside, giving you sweeping views of the ocean and jungle. With hammocks and open-air showers, it feels like you’re part of the landscape—because you are. But if you are travelling with a friend The Deluxe Room are cozy and comfortable. Coming with a group or on a solo soul-searching mission? The Shared Palapas are such a unique experience. Think stylish dorms with ocean views, perfect for groups or solo travelers who don’t mind sharing space and want to connect with others on a similar path.
Whether you’re looking to splurge or keep things simple, every room at Xinalani lets you wake up to the sound of the sea and go to sleep under the stars. It’s not just about where you sleep—it’s about how you feel while you’re there.

Xinalani is located in Quimixto, a hidden gem along Mexico’s Pacific coast, offering a tranquil escape from the bustling tourist hubs. Accessible only by boat, this secluded fishing village lies approximately 20 minutes south of Boca de Tomatlán, nestled between Las Ánimas and Majahuitas beaches.
With a population of around 250 residents, Quimixto exudes an authentic, laid-back charm. The village is characterized by its amber-sand beach, gentle waves, and crystal-clear emerald waters, making it ideal for snorkeling and scuba diving. During the fall and spring, it becomes a favored spot for surfing enthusiasts.
What I appreciated most about Xinalani Hotel is their deep respect for the town of Quimixto. They understand that this is not just land, but a living community, and they embrace their social responsibility by creating quality jobs, supporting education, and preserving local traditions. Above all, they honor and protect the land. I truly admire that mindset.
This isn’t just a vacation—it’s a deep invitation to come home to yourself. If you’re between chapters, if your soul is weary, or if you’re simply curious about living more fully—Xinalani is calling. And it’s more than worth the boat ride.

Casa Viva, Guerrero.
A hidden treasure on Mexico's Pacific coast.
After visiting my grandma who also lives in Guerrero, me and my mom head to this beautiful secret stunning destination which is only 40 minutes from Zihuatanejo. I would have never imagined a relaxing and chic town in the middle of the Pacific coast and the Sierra Madre.

We were so excited when we arrived to Casa Viva, a sister property of Playa Viva, the view from the pool and the dining room was breathtaking! We’were welcomed by Don Andres and Arenita (a beautiful dog) who took us to our Bungalow.
Casa Viva Troncones is a place to relax, enjoy the company, the view and watch the best sunset. We barely left the house
Where to eat?
Eventhough is a small town, me and my mom wanted to explore it so we decided to go for dinner to ‘La Mexicana’ a bohemian place where you can enjoy the best ceviche and shrimp fajitas while enjoying the music of a trio.
Our bungalow
Casa Viva Troncones feels both naturally luxurious and thoughtfully balanced between shared and private areas—a true escape where you can disconnect and step into a different world. My mom and I spent unforgettable memories, watching the best sunsets from the jacuzzi. It has direct access to the beach which is the calmest beach I have ever been.
How to get there?
From the airport in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, you will need to take a taxi to Troncones Beach, which is approximately 40 minutes away.
As for safety, it’s a very calm and safe town—touristy, but not in a party-oriented way—so you can be sure you'll enjoy a wonderful holiday with your loved ones.
